Jon Ord
Associate
Jonathan is an associate in the firm’s New Orleans office. His practice focuses on surety and fidelity matters, construction litigation, and commercial disputes. He has a broad litigation background having handled a variety of matters including insurance coverage bad faith, environmental claims, property and casualty claims, construction defect, land use, and professional liability. Prior to attending law school, Jonathan earned a Ph.D. in Biopsychology, where his research focused on the assessment of injury claimants involved in litigation. When not practicing law, he enjoys staying active and spending time with his wife and kids.
REPRESENTATIVE CASES
Petroplex Int'l, LLC v. St. James Parish et al., 158 F. Supp. 3d 537 (E.D. La. 2016). Jonathan defended the Parish against challenges to the constitutionality of a land use ordinance and claims of due process violations in connection with a proposed $800 million-dollar oil tank farm facility. Obtained summary judgment affirming validity of land use ordinance and defeated preliminary injunction after a three-day bench trial.
Ochsner Clinic Found. v. Lexington Ins. Co., Civ. Action No. 15-2313 (E.D. La. 2017). Jonathan defended insurer in a complex first-party claim for property damages, loss of revenue, and bad faith arising from the collapse of a building being renovated into a primary care facility for the hospital.
Washington v. South Gateway Tire, Civ. Action No. 2012-7943 (La. 12th JDC 2015). Jonathan defended a claim for alleged injuries following a rollover accident. Obtained dismissal of the punitive damage claim on summary judgment and a favorable jury verdict after one-week trial.
Myers v. Welch, 233 So. 3d 49 (La. App. 1 Cir. 2017). Summary judgment on liability coverage in wrongful death case affirmed.
